While there are tread plates and the like that make up a 19-round magazine, the 33-round magazine in the Glock 9mm is the big daddy of them all. This magazine is designed for use in the Glock 18, a fully automatic version of the Glock 17 9mm pistol. I tested the 33-round Glock magazine in several Glock pistols, angled and even fired backwards. The magazine never failed to feed and the pistols never fed, fired or ejected. The ammo used was a 124 grain Federal Syntech load - which I found to be a new load for practical use. I practice a lot with my Glock and enjoy shooting these pistols.
33 round magazines are loaded for months at a time and then they will fire again even when loaded to full capacity. If you want to go with the traditional method of downloading a round or two, this is fine for long-term use. However, with this journal I see no need.
The 33-round magazine is well balanced. It weighs about 20 ounces with a full ammunition load of 124 grains.
I usually keep this magazine ready in my Glock at home. Loaded with Speer Dot bullets, the long-slide Glock 9mm is an excellent home defender, offering a payload of 33 rounds. Few of us have time to grab a flashlight and a spare magazine when the night is alerted and home invasion teams arrive in pairs. The Glock 33 round magazine is a great choice for home defense. It's also a lot of fun in the field, and it means a lot of practice.
