Glock 19 33 Round Magazine - As I opened the plain, gray and white blister pack that held a magazine, I took the time to read the company tag on the back of the blister pack. Most of the words are devoted to the history of Glock firearms. These quotes are stuck:
A high-capacity Glock 34 magazine, TruGlo combat light, and Gold Dot ammo also make a good mix.

Extra Capacity For Your Compact Glock
These are bold claims that no one—Glock fan or not—can dispute. I have said many times that the Glock is a baseline in firearms. Its reliability is established and cannot be exceeded. The Glock is reliable beyond question and has been proven in many military, police and institutional tests. If you spend less than the Glock, the question is, "What corners to cut?" If you are going to pay more for the Glock, the question is, "What is the advantage?"
Among Glock's proven accessories is the Glock 33-round 9mm magazine. While there are floor plates and the like that accommodate a 19-round magazine, in the Glock 9mm, the 33-round magazine is the big daddy of it all. This magazine was developed for use in the Glock 18, a fully automatic version of the Glock 17 9mm pistol. Unlike most competitors and cheap imitations, the Glock magazine features a steel insert that promotes strength and feeding.
The magazine is well made and quality control is very clear. The base pad is strong enough to withstand many drops and provides great stabilization when applying a speed load. I've owned a few that have dropped during magazine changes and hard training, and they run fine. The back of the magazine has witness holes marked from 5 to 31.
Magazines provide a tactical advantage in home defense - especially if the gun is a modern 9mm carbine like the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 that fits the Glock magazine. The balance does not change the balance of the Glock 9mm. If anything, the piece is more consistent than the magazine it came in.

The magazine weighs 20 ounces loaded with 124-grain bullets. The correct order for loading any high-capacity magazine is to load three or four cartridges, tap the back of the magazine so that the cartridge case is fully seated in the back of the magazine, and continue to the load a magazine. When loading a Glock magazine spring pressure is initially strong as it should be. Junk magazines are initially weak and difficult.
The Glock is tough and getting tougher. I am able to load the magazine to about 29 rounds before I need the Blackhawk! magazine loader. The truth is, the magazine loader makes it easier to get started, but most of us - especially those younger than me - will have trouble loading the magazine to capacity.
I tested the 33-round Glock magazine in several Glock pistols, shot at an angle and even upside down. The magazine has never failed to feed and the pistols have never failed to feed, chamber, fire or eject. The ammunition used was the 124-grain Federal Syntech load - a new loading that I found unique for practice. I train with the Glock often and I enjoy shooting these pistols.
The 33-round magazine was left loaded for months at a time and they would fire, even when loaded to capacity. If you want to use the traditional method to download a round or two, that's fine for long-term use. However, in this magazine I don't see the need for it.

The 33-round magazine is well balanced. It weighs about 20 ounces with a full load of 124-grain ammunition.
I often keep this magazine in the Glock at home ready. A long-slide 9mm Glock loaded with Speer Dot ammunition that offers a 33-round payload is a great home defender. Few, if any of us, have time to grab flashlights and a spare magazine when they are alerted at night and the home invasion teams pair up. The 33-round Glock magazine is a great choice for home defense. It's also a lot of fun on the range and it means a lot of practice.
